Hey look...it's the psycho birthday girl.

Yesterday was my dog's 1st birthday...we had a small gathering of her closest friends.

Steve pointing at Chris for no apparent reason (it also looks like he's wearing a diamond earring)

One wonders if this could possibly be true.....

Bob Huggins Suspends Player for Attending Class

Cincinnati head basketball coach Bob Huggins suspended starting forward Jason Maxiell for two games today after he caught the senior attending class. The Bearcats did not have a practice scheduled at the time, but Huggins said he did not appreciate his leading scorer wasting time in class so late in the season.“Our backs are to the wall right now,” said Huggins. “If we don’t win some ballgames we’re going to be on the outside looking in at the NCAA Tournament. There’s no time to be adding or drawing or sorting stuff or whatever it is that goes on in college classes. My players need to focus strictly on basketball.”

Maxiell, who said he attended class to take an economics midterm, will not suit up for Cincinnati’s upcoming games against Southern Miss and UAB.“I understand Coach’s decision to punish me,” said Maxiell. “He has rules and we have to stick by them if we want to play for him. Sure, I’d love to graduate and get my degree, but Coach Huggins has other plans for me.”

Huggins said his suspension of Maxiell is an example of the new, tougher approach he has taken with his team after he was suspended by the university during the summer for, in part, losing control of his players.“People said I was too lax with my team and I decided that I didn’t want my program to have a bad reputation,” said Huggins. “Since returning from my suspension, I’ve made it clear to the team and all of our recruits that I will not allow one person to claim my team puts more focus in the classroom than they do on the floor.”

With a strong message sent to his team with the suspension of Maxiell, Huggins appears intent on maintaining his program’s zero percent graduation rate.“I am immensely proud of not graduating players on time,” said Huggins. “I am here for two reasons: to win basketball games and to send players to the NBA. I leave all that nurturing and enlightening crap to their parole officers. Tell me Kenyon Martin has any use for a college degree right now in the NBA and I’ll tell you the capital of Ohio. That’s right – you can’t honestly tell me that, nor can I name the capital of Ohio.”

More good news...the Bears resigned their long-snapper, this is good news....the Bears punt a lot.

I'd probably get in a lot of trouble for thinking this way.....but us catholics need a few more bishops like this

Pshew.....this will make me sleep better at night...lobsters feel no pain...and crabs just cause pain...

Oh man....apparently the ad wizards at Fox have decided to not run Arrested Development for the rest of the month....we have to wait until March 6th for an hour long block and the return of Magge Lizer

I'm now making this my cause (hell...the damn Red Wings won't play this year, and were two months away from the Tigers being eliminated from the American League Central)...so go here to keep up on the latest.

Dear God...Garvey's in another movie....

Random musings on a Monday.....

Great weekend....it's always interesting to me how you can meet new people when you least expect it and have a great time doing it. So here's a shout out to the two people who put up with me for two nights...and the one who put up with me for 12 consecutive hours (which as anyone will tell you is a lot of "matt time").

Currently playing on ITunes....a song by comedian Stephen Lynch. Who is a very funny guy.

Why are you not watching Arrested Development yet? Justice is blind hermano...justice is blind.

My dog....she's lovely...aside from eating a pillow when she was bored yesterday and her penchant for moving all of my socks around the apartment. Although, I should probably mate those socks at some point. (And yet, the whole idea of mating an item of clothing is a little freaky).

It's Valentine's Day....and this will shock all of you who know me....I'll be spending mine trying to play cupid between roommates in my building. I don't need them to love each other...but they do need to start getting along. Valentine's Day....what a stupid holiday...it hasn't even been on the catholic calendar for the last 35 years...but here we are....sending roses and really bad chocolate around the world.

I'm pretty stoked for the upcoming college basketball tournaments....this has been a great season. I'm not ready to write off my Spartans yet....you wouldn't be crazy to pick them to the final four depending on how the brackets fall.

Last thing.....the NHL is probably cancelling for good today....or tomorrow....at which time I will have a memorial showing of the movie Miracle at Herek Indoor Stadium. Please phone for details.

The DPU women managed to snatch two victories this weekend....that means they need but 1 win in their next 3 games to earn no worse than a tie for the conference title.

Big props to the Blue Demon men who absolutely demolished Cincinatti on Saturday at the All-Rosemont-State-Horizon Arena.

In case you didn't hear...MSU beat UM in basketball for the 12th time in 13 games this past Saturday....wow...I guess those UM people are right...the gap is indeed closing.
