What's Going Through My Head

Dad...is that you?

So here's something cool

If you go to this webpage, and scroll to the bottom, the good people of "let's fix our schools.com" have referenced a paper I wrote 5 years ago (ugh...has it really been 5 years). If you are interested in how the GI Bill changed higher education...click on the link. Or go there just to stroke my ego.

Do not go to this Subway

It is located at 2412 Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. They don't honor coupons and they try to overcharge you even when you use a coupon.

I hope this particular Subway loses its' license and is forced to wallow in the depths of greasy yeasty badness in a special place in hell reserved for those who would not honor my coupons.

Wow!! My hometown made CNN.com for the second time in a month!! This time it's all about riding the streets of the most evil of people. Those who would keep library materials longer than they should. Rest assured citizens of Bay City, Michigan...the books you depend on being on those dusty musty shelves in the central library of Bay City...will be there once these capable crime fighters bring the evildoers to justice.

So...MSU plays Penn State on Saturday...it's been 39 years since the spartans won in Happy Valley. Which means that....

<>• Joe Paterno was associate coach at Penn State under Rip Engle.
• President Lyndon Johnson occupied the White House.
• Penn State's game program sold for 50 cents in Beaver Stadium.

Sept. 25, 1965 (Michigan State 23, Penn State 0)
Steve Juday completed 10-of-13 passes for 100 yards and ran for a touchdown to lead Michigan State to a 23-0 victory over Penn State in Beaver Stadium. The Spartans jumped out to a 20-0 halftime lead on two field goals by Dick Kenney (from 24 and 29 yards) and TD runs of 4 yards by Juday and 35 yards by Bob Apisa. Kenney closed out the scoring with his third field goal in the fourth quarter, a 36-yarder. Clinton Jones (14 for 81) and Apisa (13 for 76) combined for 157 yards rushing on 27 carries to pace MSU's ground attack. The Spartans outgained Penn State in total yards, 290-215.

This is from the "things that interest only me" about my home state....there was a restaurant called Walli's that had the most god-awful sign you could see from the expressway. It kind of looked like the ship that superman came to earth in. Well, as you can see from clicking the link, the sign came down on Wednesday. I haven't been this sad since the Siegfried and Roy billboard was replaced with the big picture of Danny Gans.

And...we continue with my pathetic college football picks...

So...in the movie the incredibles, there's a lot of talk about why heroes should not wear capes, and someone referenced Isadora Duncan to me in conversation the other day....and I didn't believe it til I read it...but apparently she had a similar problem with scarves.

Oh for the love of God....literally....good to see that the reps in Washington are worrying about the important things....immoral numbering of the highway system.... We probably shouldn't tell him that on I-96 in Michigan....Exit 69 takes you to Big Beaver Road (and no...I'm not making that up)

Hmmm...only 1420 calories...delicious.

Good news!! Fortune telling is now allowed in my hometown...

Got this today....

Matt-

I see our festivities were not cool enough to make it onto your blog for the weekend. Thanks again for the tour da Lincoln park

For the record.....I did have a good time at Kim and Rich's on Saturday night.

Yes ladies and gentlemen....these are the kinds of people who support our newly elected president.

49-14? I sure as hell didn't see THAT coming. My beloved Spartans have now found a way to navigate a murderer's row of Big Ten opponents and come out with a 2-2 record. One could make the argument soundly that they should have been 4-0 in those games, that's how much they have dominated.

Very quietly some good things are happening in East Lansing....these guys want to win, and they want to do it for the right reasons. Hats off to the Spartans. Victory for MSU!!
